Sausage Tree Charity
Dear Alick and TASC,
I just wanted to say a huge thank you for your recent donation to Sausage Tree. Your donation really does make a huge difference to the communities we support in the Luangwa Valley and I know they are incredibly grateful.
This year your funds were used to support Msoro Secondary School which has a total of 450 students serving a community of 3000. As the school classrooms were in a desperate state, your donation was used to purchase desks, bunk beds and window frames and doors.
Other projects for 2024 include:
Paying the salaries of 4 teachers, 1 librarian and 1 gardener at Chiwawatala School.
Paying the salaries of two teachers at Valley Lake School
We have carefully chosen 2 students to support through tertiary education. Frank is about to start his second year as a medical student.
He has acquired a full sponsorship from the government which will only cater for the academic studies and thanks to your support we are supporting him with his travel, accommodation and living costs. We will soon be supporting Margaret who grew up in Mfuwe and will be
studying wildlife management, driven by a deep passion for conservation. We are keen to break gender barriers and encourage young girls to pursue their aspirations.
School Resources such as stationery for Chiwawatala and Mambwe Schools.
We have just held the bi-annual Sausage Tree Clay Shoot; the day was a huge success and the weather was kind – we got lucky! The auction alone raised a grand total of £17,093. We don’t have the final total raised yet as we are still waiting on a couple of invoices. We are overjoyed with this huge sum and it will enable us to continue with our yearly commitments and also enable us to complete additional projects. Once again thanks so much for your support. It is hugely appreciated and really is making an enormous difference to the children and their families. Over the years we have witnessed a huge change in mindset in this rural area of Zambia. We didn’t want to facilitate a “hand out” culture but one where the community learns to understand the importance of creating a sustainable environment and culture through education and tourism. We firmly believe every child deserves the right to education and in this part of rural Zambia this is being achieved through your support.
Huge thanks and warmest wishes,
The Sausage Tree Charity
