Our Foundation

TASC distributes a percentage of carbon revenue generated from its climate mitigation projects to benefit the communities in our project areas.

What We Do

The TASC Foundation has been incorporated to administer community funds generated from TASC’s carbon mitigation projects. Its purpose is to ensure that available funds are distributed to initiatives which serve the needs of local communities in an accountable, transparent and effective way. The percentage of carbon revenue allocated for such use is determined on an ad hoc basis depending on the size of the relevant mitigation project and its funding structure.

TASC Foundation SA (NPC) is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of two senior members of TASC management with integral knowledge of TASC’s operations, together with an independent third Director with significant experience within non-profit organisations. The Foundation seeks to ensure that local communities benefit directly and practically from the distribution of funds and that the integrity requirements of the TASC group in terms of transparency, accountability and efficacy are always met. All proposals for potential community projects undergo an evaluation process and the progress and impact of initiatives are monitored on an ongoing basis. The NPC has a robust financial management system in place which tracks the inflow of community allocated funding from carbon mitigation projects and the outflow to beneficiary communities and TASC bears all the corporate costs of the Foundation so that 100% of allocated funds go to communities.

Donations

Donate now to make a lasting impact in our project communities – your donation will directly fund the project of your choice. The TASC Foundation is eligible to issue Section 18A Certificates which will allow a donor to claim an input deduction for VAT as well as a tax deduction for income tax purposes. Donations can also qualify as Socio-Economic Development contributions for the purposes of BBBEE compliance.

Community Projects

Community funds are generated by TASC’s carbon mitigation projects as well as from third party donations. In South Africa and Zambia, where TASC’s mitigation projects involve the distribution of household devices such as Improved Cookstoves, members of beneficiary communities receive the device itself free of charge, over and above the percentage of carbon revenue allocated to fund local initiatives.

South Africa

The South Africa Steering Committee has oversight over the Foundation's community give back projects in Limpopo, the Eastern Cape and Kwa-Zulu Natal.
